We’re not all blessed with amazing tech and IT skills, and that means that sometimes, when the slightest thing goes wrong with our computer or laptop we end up flying into a big panic. This is especially the case if we need the computer to work with – then the panic can often turn into a blind rage! Thankfully, though most common computer issues and problems are easy enough for you to solve on your own. Here are some of the best quick-fixes for all those niggling issues.
Your Computer Won’t Turn On
One of the nightmare scenarios for most computer users is that their machine won’t turn on. Most people might think this signals the end of their device but that isn’t always the case. There are two options. Firstly, you could simply take your laptop or computer to an IT firm, like Capstone IT, and they will be able to get to work on it for you. But there might be a really simple solution, such as plugging it into a power socket. Most computer users don’t realize quite how low their battery is and end up mistaking an empty battery for a broken machine!
The Screen Has Frozen
If the computer freezes, there is often only one solution that will fix things, unfortunately. And that is to turn off the machine and then carry out a reboot. Sadly, this means that any unsaved work and data will be lost. Then, you just need to figure out why the computer froze in the first place. This could be because you don’t have much storage space left on it or there are some corrupt files on the device. Fixing these issues will improve things in the future.
The Internet Is Really Slow
Full storage can sometimes also be a cause of slow internet, but there are a few other possible reasons why your browsers might be slow to load. It’s a good idea to try and clear your cookies as these can often cause delays. It’s also worth making sure that all of your cyber security software, like antivirus scanner and firewall, are all up to date. If these are dated, they could be slow to run, and that could end up slowing down your entire machine.
Your Computer Continually Overheats
Do you find that your computer gets hotter the more you use it? This isn’t good news for the hard drive and, in some extreme cases, it may even result in the computer shutting itself down. You can fix this by simply getting an updated cooling system installed. You should also make sure that you always place your laptop on a hard surface – using it on top of a soft surface can make it heat up a lot quicker than it should!
As you can see, computer problems aren’t always complicated and impossible for you to fix. There are some very simple solutions that anyone should be able to do, even if they have no IT experience behind them at all!
