Some New Year’s resolutions are universal. We’ve all tried them at least once, and the majority of us attempt them every year. Quitting smoking is often top of that list, or cutting back on chocolate. And, you could group these into an even more universally made resolution to improve health.

That’s right; we all go crazy for health when the new year rolls around. It makes sense, given that the majority of us have a few improvements to make. And, in an attempt to get our health under control, many turn to methods like yoga. This is the ideal resolution. Not only does it address physical health, but it also impacts thought processes. It can help you overcome anxiety, and generally develop a calm outlook.

There’s a distinct chance you’d already given this resolution up as ruined. After all, we’re a fair few days in now. If you haven’t done yoga by now, this is a lost cause, right? Wrong. In fact, there’s still plenty of time to get on top of this. To ensure you commit, invest in a mat, and look into scent additions like the ones you can find if you click here. These will help give you an excuse to show up. Then, turn to the following resources to ensure your time on the mat is well spent.

Classes

Lucky for you, the term has yet to start. As such, you can still sign up for a yoga class and begin at the same time as everyone else. These are a fantastic idea if you’re struggling with motivation, as they force you into a commitment. And, the majority of towns have at least one or two regular classes to boast of. This way, you also get the chance to share the experience and meet new friends. What’s not to love?

YouTube

Of course, we’re not all willing to jump right into a class. After all, yoga does mean putting yourself in some pretty compromising positions. If you don’t think you’d be comfortable doing that in front of others, head to YouTube for that same level of instruction. There are many YouTube channels which provide yoga lessons. Yoga with Adriene is top of that list, with a whopping 2.9 million subscribers. Take a little time to find videos which work for you, then get into a routine. The best thing about this option is that you can pause and rewind as and when you need to. You can very much take things at your pace.

Books

In all honesty, most yoga books aren’t fantastic regarding instruction. To understand a pose, you need to see it done. Hence why books are at the bottom of this list. But, they do still deserve a place. They may not be a massive help with poses, but many such books can be a huge help with the meditative and mental aspects of the practice. These are things you can’t see but can gain some insight into when reading the right material.
