You love fitness. You love working out; you’ve never understood the people who say that exercise is boring. For you, exercise is a delight, something that you never tire of. When you are this passionate about something – when it transcends a hobby and becomes a passion – it can be easy to start wondering: “maybe I could do this as a career?”

If you have harbored these thoughts yourself, then you’re not alone. If you want your love of fitness to become a legitimate business opportunity or career choice for yourself, then what are your options?

#1 – Personal Trainer

The first option is also the most obvious, but then again, it’s worth covering all the bases.

Working as a fitness trainer can be incredibly rewarding, as you lead other people through the maze of getting fit and help them to establish a new way forward in their lives. You can work with people one-on-one, helping to create a routine that genuinely benefits them – a perfect choice if you’re a people person.

You will need to undertake vocational courses and on-the-job training, but these can be done at night schools or online, allowing you to juggle re-training with your existing commitments.

#2 – Gym Ownership

If you love fitness and have a sense of entrepreneurial spirit, then you will love the idea of opening your own gym – and it’s more feasible than you might imagine.

While many gyms are large chains, there are plenty of boutique gyms that offer a more personalized experience. You could take all that you have learned from years of working out, and put those lessons to use by creating the kind of fitness center that you have always wanted to train at.

The usual requirements for an entrepreneurial endeavor are required; you will need to obtain funding, complete a business plan, and find premises. You will also need to master gym-specific tasks, the day-to-day business, from organizing the classes schedule through to ordering new parts from Ampcontrol so you can keep your treadmills running smoothly. This may be a whole new world to absorb, but if you’re willing to learn, you may just be able to make it work.

#3 – Hiking Guide

Finally, if you prefer your fitness to involve the outdoors rather than the inside of a gym, then working as a hiking guide might be just what you need.

To an extent, a role such as this will depend on the availability of trails where you live. If you are near a popular hiking point — or are willing to move to such an area – then this career option might be perfect for you. You’ll get to spend your working days outdoors, breathing fresh air, and helping other people to boot.

You will likely need first aid qualifications, but specific requirements will vary between parks and trails. Your best bet is to contact your local government department for parks and trails and ask what their requirements are; you never know, you might already be a perfect fit.

If you want to turn your love of fitness into a viable career, then one of the options above should suit you – good luck.
